Mia Chara

One good thing a day, specific enough to remember.

Not “my family” again. The way your daughter laughed at dinner, the first cool breeze after a hot week, the coffee someone made before you were up. Mia Chara asks for one small, specific thing each day and keeps it for you.

Free to use, with no ads or trackers. About a minute a day.

This month:17 days written

Tue · Sep 16

The bus driver waited for me while I ran down the hill.

He saw me coming and just held the doors. I said thank you twice.

People · Small kindnesses

It notices when you’re writing the same thing again.

Gratitude lists go stale fast. When today’s entry sounds like one from last week, Mia Chara points it out and asks a better question, so you end up noticing something you would have walked past.

Why gratitude journals go stale, and what helps

Your first try

Grateful for my family.

A familiar one

You’ve been grateful for your family before. What did they do, say, or share with you today that made you appreciate them?

  • September 2“My family”
  • August 19“Having my family around”

Kept

Mom called just to read me the crossword clue she couldn’t get.

At the end of the month, you get them back.

Each month becomes a short memory you can reread. Some days you’ll also get an “on this day” surprise: a small moment from last year you had completely forgotten.

August

23days kept

A month of small rescues: people holding doors, a neighbor’s tomatoes, the storm that finally broke the heat.

  • Aug 04Mrs. Alvarez left tomatoes on our step with a note.
  • Aug 17The thunderstorm at 6pm and the cool air after.
  • Aug 29Sam fixed my bike chain without being asked.

Questions, answered.

  • Is Mia Chara free?

Yes. Mia Chara is currently free to use, with no ads.

  • Who can read my entries?

Only you, with three exceptions the privacy policy spells out. Emails you choose to turn on, such as the weekly digest, include your entries. If AI help is on, our AI provider, Anthropic, receives the short “one good thing” line from some entries to spot repeats and write your monthly summary. You can turn it off in Settings. And your journal isn’t end to end encrypted. Other people who use Mia Chara can’t see anything of yours, and the admin tools can’t show entry text.

  • Do I need to install an app?

No. Mia Chara runs in the browser on your phone or computer. On a phone you can add it to your home screen, and it opens like an app.

  • Will it remind me to write?

If you want it to. A daily reminder email is off until you turn it on in Settings, where you also pick the time.

  • Can I add photos?

Yes. Each entry holds up to six photos or videos, and a video can run up to a minute.

Start with today.

Today’s question takes about a minute to answer, and once you do, today is your first kept day.
