The service

Mia Chara is a private daily gratitude journal. It’s currently free to use, with no ads. Features may change over time as the app improves.

Your account

• You need to be at least 13 years old to use Mia Chara.
• Use an email address you can receive mail at; sign in links are sent there.
• Keep your sign in details to yourself. You’re responsible for activity on your account.

Your entries are yours

You own everything you write and upload. You give us permission to store it, process it, and show it back to you only as needed to run Mia Chara for you: things like saving entries, spotting repeats, and building your monthly memories. How we handle it is described in the privacy policy.

Fair use

Please don’t:

• use Mia Chara for anything illegal, or to store content you don’t have the right to store;
• try to access other people’s accounts or data, or get around the app’s security;
• overload, disrupt, or scrape the service.

We may suspend an account that does these things. Where we can, we’ll tell you why and give you the chance to export your entries first.

Leaving, or the service ending

You can export your entries or delete your account from Settings whenever you like. The export contains your writing; photos and videos you attached are not included, so keep your own copies of any you care about. If we ever decide to shut Mia Chara down, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice by email so you can export your entries.

No guarantees

Mia Chara is provided “as is.” We work hard to keep it running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors, so keep your own export of anything you can’t bear to lose. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the service.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top changes too. For significant changes we’ll email you before they take effect. Continuing to use Mia Chara after that means you accept the new terms.
